The Role
In this newly created position, the Commercial Insurance Trainer will have a dual role in training and sales. This individual will be responsible responsible for conducting, developing, implementing and evaluating training programs for new and existing commercial lines insurance producers and servicing team members. The other role of this position is a commercial lines producer.
Responsibilities
Training:
- Design, develop and implement onboarding and training courses for new hires
- Develop and conduct regular training sessions for team members and ensure team members have the skills and competences required
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to ensure that training content is relevant and comprehensive
- Continually assess the training's impact through assessments, feedback and performance metrics
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and support, addressing questions and providing guidance
- Review commercial department processes, procedures and training material for clarity, consistency and compliance with insurance regulations and industry practices
- Collaborate with management to identify training needs and opportunities for professional development
- Maintain detailed records of training activities and participant progress
Sales & Retention:
- Focus on prospect identification and conversation process, exercising self-confidence and humility to find success in sales through focusing on niche markets and identifying target clients
- Present and advise the prospect, close the sale and warmly transfer the new client to the commercial lines teams to handle the post-sale and account maintenance
- Retain newly established and existing clients through policy renewal reviews to address risks and coverages, retain and grow business and enhance client relationships
- Meet established goals to retain and grow new business
Service:
- Assist Commercial Lines servicing team in daily operations, including processing and verifying changes, claims intake and management, issuing certificates, billing and payment, educating and advising clients to confirm that policyholder needs are best addressed, as well as other areas, including addressing escalated concerns with clients, underwriters or management
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in the insurance industry, specifically commercial insurance necessary
- Previous experience in a training or instructional role desired
- Strong understanding of insurance products, regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to design training programs that address various learning styles
- Strong organizational and time management skills
